There are many transportation systems you can use to reach the Somme valley. As two highways cross the river, you can either arrive at the west (A16) and the east (A1) of the valley. By train, it is easy and quite fast to arrive in Amiens from Lille or Paris at any time of the day. You can also use the fast train lines (TGV) and then geting off at the "Haute Picardie" station near Peronne.
The closest international airport is very near as well. It's in Beauvais, half an hour away from Amiens!
